Recent events sparked by the killing of George Floyd brought several coaches together to brainstorm how we can better understand racism and work together for healing, protection, safety, and justice. As coaches, we also recognize that we have a responsibility to live the ICF Code of Ethics.

ICF Code of Ethics, Section IV Responsibility to Society

#25 Avoid discrimination by maintaining fairness and equality in all activities and operations while respecting local rules and cultural practices. This includes discrimination on the basis of age, race, gender expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, disability, or military status.

Our first action is to invite you to participate in an interactive book discussion in August.  In the New York Times best-selling book, So You Want to Talk About Race, by Ijeoma Oluo, we will find a frank, user-friendly examination of race in America (available from Amazon in all formats).

Please join us having read the chapters with a willingness to have honest conversations about race and racism and how they impact almost every aspect of American life. You’ll leave with a broader understanding of racism and with concrete ideas for dealing with racial prejudices and biases.  You will receive the reading schedule after your registration.

Voluntary Donations | Knowing that each of us may want to take additional action, ICF North Florida Chapter has selected the Jacksonville nonprofit organization, Inspire to Rise to receive voluntary donations.   Inspire to Rise focuses on holistically helping families and individuals rise, overcome, and shine through their most challenging moments in life to become their best selves.   https://www.weinspiretorise.org/

How to Donate | If you want to make a voluntary donation when you register, choose "Member or Guest Tickets", then under "Available Products", select "Inspire to Rise Donation". A pop-up window will appear, where you may enter the amount you wish to donate.  We will present our collective donations to Inspire to Rise on behalf of the ICF North Florida Chapter.
